Minnesota Hates LDC Too...

It's been a long time. I've been super busy but had some downtime over the holidays to look at the comments. I had a feeling that my case wasn't unique and it appears it wasn't. They seem to also use people with similar names.

It appears that Minnesota slapped their wrist at least once.

Keep sending comments of you get a collection letter from LDC that you don't deserve.

Thanks,

Jim

  1. A Better Business Bureau check on January 6 2010 shows all 3 Los Angeles offices of LDC received an "F" rating.

I'm being hounded for a 2004 parking ticket issued on President's Day on a rental car.

  3. I received a notice from this company back in 2003 when they went under the name of ACS. They were trying to collect parking tickets incurred in another state on a truck I had sold in 1998. The tickets were issued about 4 days after I sold the vehicle so I thought it was feasible that the state of Minnesota had not transferred the title out of my name yet. I called ACS and they also wanted a notorized title to be sent to them but I decided to just ignored the issue. I recently called the state where the parking tickets were incurred(just to make sure I don't have some arrest warrant or something) and they said they have no record of such tickets.

  4. I'm dealing with them in Philadelphia right now for a U-Haul truck that I used for a day. (The tickets are all on different days on which I did not use the truck.)

  5. Got a collection notice for *my* vehicle plate number for a 'prohib prk' violation that was made in 3/2009 in san francisco. I have (unfortunately) never been to san francisco. I live in AZ, what is this companies game.... I will be asking very directed questions as to what their source was, and how they gathered my information, in addition to taping the conversation.

  6. Got a citation from SF LDC Collection Systems yesterday, too. The citation states that the car I rented received a street cleaning ticket on 4/5/10 in San Francisco. What a dumb ass, I was at school and did not drive for the whole day. The license plate on the citation also has 2 others citations that are worth $500. Does anyone know what I should do about it? Do they just send out unpaid tickets randomly? This is messed up!!

  7. In Dec 2010 (again 2010 )........i got a collection notice from LDC for a street cleaning parking violation dated 3 1/2 years ago in july 2007.

Problem is that I traded the car in question into the dealer in Jan. 2001....thats 2001. LDC refuses to accept the information from the Ca. DMV that I don't own the car now and haven't owned it since Jan 2001. I've even had an attorney advising me on dealing with LDC collections...so now it seems I will be going to Small Claims court. Iv'e got a letter and computer print out from the Ca DMV showing I haven't owned the car in 10 years so I will see what happens next.

Even if you have absolute proof it won't sway LDC but it might sway a judge and get you reimbursed for your costs and time. That's my advice.

  8. I too just received such a notice on 5/4/2011 for fees owed from April 2004. SEVEN YEARS AGO! This is the second this has been done to me by them as well. It said the car was impounded and sold at auction due to unpaid parking tickets (I've never not paid a parking ticket) and that $609.50 is still owed. To hell with these clowns. I ordered a PA title search and will get that back at some point, hopefully sooner then later. If my name is not in the chain of title ownership, they can blow me. I want to say I know I'm not on it, but given that it was 7 YEARS AGO, I'm not 100% sure..

  9. My dad received a muni citation in March 2011. Unfortunately, he lost the copy of the citation few days later. So I called in the customer service asking the citation number under my dad's name or his driver license number but they couldn't find it. They gave me advice that I should wait for the ticket coming.

Until late of June, we finally received the ticket with the "Final Notice" and another $90 of late fee. Also we are not allowed to dispute the case. When I look at the ticket, my dad's name doesn't appear correctly and even my address. I call in the LDC again and I have received a rude attitude from the woman on the other line. When she can't argue anymore with her stupid logic, she starts to say "You have to pay the citation and there is nothing we can do about it." I'm willing to pay the original price of the citation for my dad but they don't want it. They want the new price with the late fee. At the end of the phone call, I ask whether she wants the proof and she agrees to take it. I send the proof to the LDC in the next day but they say it is not enough.

I also submit the complaint to 311 Customer Service of San Francisco and I receive a phone call from them saying that I don't have to pay for the citation if my dad's name is not correct on the system regardless of the correct driver license number.

Should I pay for it or not?

  10. Same here but, I know this is a scam off the bat. They have the correct name of the person but license plate totally NEVER owned by me and the date was 2010 and in a place I NEVER visited. There Fakers alright trying to get innocent people who may not know better so, that they will mail checks out. On the top of the letter it also said to pay by "Credit Card" any legit company that needs there money will take credit, debit or other form of money as long as they get that ticket paid but, this company just mentions to pay by "Credit Card". (yeah right). If you are still having issues I would directly call the City of Oakland then maybe you can feel more relief.

  11. They sent me a dunning letter trying to collect from my dead brother. He lived in San Francisco; I live in New York. After I sent them a copy of his death certificate they sent HIM a letter saying he still had to pay the tickets! Stupid.
